Tiffany attended the Adult Basic Education Program in the Andrews, SC, Family Literacy Program and recently received her diploma. Check our her success story below. Congratulations, Tiffany!

I am a 2008 Family Literacy Honor Graduate. I attended classes at the Andrews Elementary location from August 2007-April 2008.
For 4 1/2 yrs I kept contemplating on whether or not I should go back to school. But better job opportunities always made my mind up on those decisions.

While raising two little boys, trying to maintain a decent home for my kids and myself, I was able to accomplish one of my most important goals: receiving my diploma. This program has been around for a few years or so and I can honestly say I am glad that I took the opportunity to be a part of this program. This program has helped me and my kids in the learning process. My son Isaiah will be 2 yrs old this Halloween and he’s already basically potty training himself (what a great relief!!).

One day at home shortly after Isaiah’s first B-Day I was busy doing laundry and Isaiah was in the living room playing alone and I went to secretly check on him. He was singing Ring Around the Rosy. He also was reciting numbers and singing his own version of the Alphabet. I was very shocked at what was coming out of my son. Through the Family Literacy program I have learned that whatever you do or whatever you say around your child your child will exercise that in public.

The Family Literacy Program has changed my life more than I thought it ever would. This program is worth a second chance in life. I had major stumbling blocks thrown my way and I almost gave up. I can’t just give credit to this program. My mom and dad and sister deserves it too. I made a promise to my family and I plan to keep it. I reached one goal and it feels good to know I’ve accomplished it. My plans with my diploma is to attend Horry-Georgetown Technical School in January 2009 for the Limited Radiology Tech Course. To the next group of graduates I wish you all the luck and determination.
